I barely ever write reviews, but today I thought, y’know what, STEP OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE AND WRITE A FLIPPIN’ REVIEW. So I did.
If you follow me on Twitter (@sshhbeauty) then you’ll know that last Friday a package arrived on the doorstep for me. It was my long-awaited bh Cosmetics eyeshadow palette, come around 3 days early. I’ve been using it everyday since then, experimenting with green smoky eyes and aqua blue blending, and this palette is what I’ll be reviewing today.
1. PACKAGING AND PRICE
I ordered the palette from Amazon (click HERE and you’ll be taken over to the website) for £13.95, which I thought was an incredible price (although, I think mine was on a kind of sale. I think that the regular price is £14.95 – not that much of a difference). The reviews were really great, and when it arrived it was bubble-wrapped and none of the shadows were smashed. What made me even more impressed, though, was the fact that I ordered it on Wednesday last week and it came on Friday. ONLY A TWO DAY WAIT. Madness.
As for the packaging:
It came in a matte black cardboard box and the palette itself came in reflective packaging. I’m not a huge fan of the mirrored-look it has because finger marks show up really badly, as you can clearly see from the picture (oops). When you open it there is a little mirror and two spongy applicators on the inside of the lid (does anyone actually use those spongy things?).
The shadows inside are kind of hit-and-miss – some of them have amazing pigmentation and come off onto your brush really easily, and others don’t transfer quite as well. Obviously I haven’t worked at them for a long time though yet, so maybe they need to be broken into more before the colour comes out easily. Similarly, the lasting power varies between the colours – some stay on all day and others fade as time goes on. With a good quality primer they all stay on fairly well though (I’d recommend the Benefit Stay don’t Stray).
3. WOULD I RECOMMEND?
Overall, yes I would recommend you going and having a look at these palettes. Bh do a massive variety of neutrals and brights so there’ll always be one you’re bound to like. For the amount of eyeshadows that you get and the quality of them, you really do get your money’s worth.
Thanks for reading! Let me know in the comments if you’d like more reviews!
