I’m back with another ‘worth the hype?’ post today, on the madly hyped Lasting Perfection Concealer by Collection. Now, if you have eyes (and ears) you must have heard something about this! If you haven’t – where have you been?
I’m going to let you know my thoughts on this supposedly ‘genius product’ and tell you if I agree!
(if you’re not interested in a very detailed review, just skip to the bottom of the post where I round up everything I mention – I do ramble a bit!)
So I’ll start with the price – £4.19! Yes, you read that right! UNDER £5! For the price of it, it’s an excellent product to at least try – after all, even if you absolutely hate it you’ve only lost a few pounds.
Unfortunately, with a cheap price tag comes cheap packaging – it really doesn’t float my boat. Although it’s durable plastic and I doubt it’d ever crack or anything, the writing on mine has fully rubbed off as you can see. It does have a doe foot applicator though which I really enjoy using, and you get a great amount of product (although I am running a bit low, I will say!).
It comes in four different shades – Fair, Cool Medium, Warm Medium and Dark. I have the Fair one as my skin is very pale, but it is practically a white shade so I’d only go for it if your skin is very light. It gives me that Kim Kardashian dramatic highlight under the eyes which is great if I’m going out, but for everyday it is quite harsh! When my Fair one runs out I’m going to try Cool Medium and hope it’ll be a better match for my skin.
Now onto the formulae – a very, very drying consistency that will try and settle in fine lines and wrinkles around your eyes – no matter your age! It won’t just affect you if you’re perhaps older; even when you’re younger the skin around your eyes creases when you smile and talk. I wouldn’t recommend applying lots of layers of it either as it can look quite cakey – blending with your fingers helps minimise this, as the warmth will really buff it deep into the skin and give a more natural finish than a brush would.
I find applying a tiny amount of moisturiser onto my skin directly where I’ll apply it works quite well, although if it’s under your eyes again it will crease. Recently I’ve been using Benefit’s Stay Don’t Stay Concealer Primer before the concealer and that has worked very well actually!
In the summer months when my skin is quite oily I actually find it to crease less, whereas during these colder months it creases really badly. I definitely wouldn’t recommend it for dry skin unless you use moisturiser on the skin beforehand, but if you’re oily it’s brilliant.
It works excellently on blemishes no matter what skin type you have though, as I mentioned in my ‘How to completely cover a blemish’ post.
Packaging:1/5 (cheap and tacky. Writing comes off easily)
Coverage:Full coverage, heavy duty
Recommended?:YES (best for oily skin)
WORTH THE HYPE?:Yes, yes, yes! This concealer is amazing, heavy duty and covers a multitude of sins. It’s affordable too, and I’m sure you’ll find a colour match that’s right for your skin tone. Even if you don’t like it, at least it’s not pricey.
That’s all from me!x
