2015 and my blogging journey so far

Today is the first day of 2015. WOW.

I am aware that this is out of my regular posting routine – but hey, it’s new year and I wanted to get a deep little paragraph out to you all. 🙂

As well as wishing you all the best for 2015 (wow that feels weird to write) I wanted to share my blogging experience so far with you all.

I started blogging in June, which means I’ve been here for 6 months, and I can’t honestly tell you what a big part of my life this little blog has become.

I don’t have many people around me who are interested in experimenting with makeup, or spending ridiculous amounts on a new cleanser, or feeling excited to pick up a new lip liner – it sounds stupid to the people around, but to me it’s very important!

Starting up sshhbeauty was very exciting for me, as I’d always dreamed of having somewhere that I could talk to people about the passions that no one else shared. In 6 months I’ve written over 55 posts, been left over 350 lovely comments and gained over 250 amazing followers – all of which have the same obsession over beauty as I do.

Sure, at the start the feedback seemed a little slow. Anyone who starts a blog is eager for comments and likes! But if you want it hard enough, you’ll have the patience to wait and readers can see that in what you write – I read lots and lots of blogs, some of which are detailed but chatty and you can see just how much time has been put into them!

My first post was Beginner’s Guide to Beauty which you can read here (cringe, oh dear) and I can remember that satisfactory feeling when I hit the publish button. I woke up the next morning to see that 3 people had liked my post when I (accidentally) tagged makeup, beauty and fashion. And I can also remember the feeling of wanting to jump up and down with happiness – when you get recognition and credit for a paragraph that you never thought would go down too well, the feeling is like no other.

Since then, I haven’t looked back, writing posts every Tuesday and Saturday about anything that takes my fancy. And although I’m still very private, I’ve gained some gorgeous friends that I love chatting with on here – you guys always pick me back up! A big thank you to those of you who made starting something new easier for me, and made me feel so welcome.

Unlike Saturday mornings before June the 15th, when I’d lounge around and read other beauty blogs, I now answer your supportive comments and have a peek at your blog to see if anything catches my eye. I promise to answer any comments that you guys leave, because you’ve taken the time to write them – I’ll take the time to reply.

Thank you all for being so supportive always and for making the last half of 2014 one to remember!

All the best,

sshhbeauty x

  1. I know what you mean about not having people to talk about makeup too! My friends aren’t crazy about makeup and I moved away from home with my boyfriend in August and he doesn’t exactly get excited about makeup either 😉 so thats why I started a blog and I am so pleased I did! 🙂 wishing you all the best for 2015 xxx

    1. Blogging is the best way to find people who feel the same way as you! It’s amazing to know that you’re not the only one. Thank you for commenting, happy new year! xxx

  2. I know exactly what you mean about not having people who love beauty products next to you. All of my girlfriends that are crazy about make up live elsewhere. I love reading your reviews, keep writing 🙂 x
