The lip product addict tag (part 1) // With swatches!

Hi again everyone!

Today’s post is dedicated to everything lips – it’s the lip product addict tag, created by the amazing Amelia Liana and essiebutton!

Apologies for how late this post is up – me and WordPress have just not been getting along recently! ARGH, I’m sure some of you feel my pain?

I don’t think I’ve been tagged to do this, but I’m going to do it anyway because I’ve got lots to talk about!

Because I’ve got so many swatch photos and things like that, I’ve decided to split this post into two halves – right now you’re reading the first one, and on Wednesday the second half will be up!

1. What is your favourite balm or treatment?

So, my current favourite balms are definitely the Body Shop Born Lippys – these little guys are amazing! Aside from the huge colour selection they have a really unique texture – almost gel-like, and the formula lasts a long time on the lips and keeps on nourishing!

As for a lip treatment though – it’s got to be the MedPlus from Blistex! I’ve spoken about this so much so I’m not going to go on about it, but seriously – if you suffer with really chapped lips, you need this!

I apply it just before I go to bed, and when I wake up the next morning my lips are perfect again. Amazing.

2. What is your favourite eye-catching red?

I don’t usually wear red lipsticks all that often – if I’m honest with you, I feel a bit self-conscious in them and they’re so high maintenance. You’ve got to keep checking that you haven’t smudged it all over your chin or got it on your teeth!

However, sometimes I do crave that bold, bright red – and for that I always reach for my Rimmel Kate Moss in 110 (a matte, vibrant red with a slight orange undertone) and apply some of the Seventeen Lip Lustre on top to add a bit more intensity and gloss!

Here’s some swatches!

3. Best luxury vs best drugstore?

Personally, if someone was to ask me about a luxury lipstick, I would immediately think of YSL. I mean, just look at it! You can’t go wrong!

I’ve got shade 13 which is a beautiful vibrant peachy shade. I love the formula, the pigmentation, the scent, the packaging… It’s worth every single penny!

For drugstore though, I have to say that I’m loving the Sexy Mother Pucker Gloss Stick in Nudist from Soap and Glory – ever since I picked this up it has just become my go-to nude shade and it’s really nourishing on the lips too.

4. Best MAC lipstick?

Now, as you may know if you read my recent MAC haul I only have one MAC lipstick. I know, I know, how bad is that? I’ve actually got a list of all of the ones I’m going to try next so thank you to those of you who left me recommendations in the comments! Do leave any more below…

Anyway, the one MAC lipstick that I do have is very well loved, and it’s Angel – yes, the classic frosty pink that supposedly Kim Kardashian wears. It justΒ leaves aΒ lovely effect on the lips and is surprisingly nourishing! It just goes with every eye look and I can’t get enough of it.

So those are the first questions from the lip product addict tag! In my next post I’ll share my answers for the second half, and I’ll also be tagging some of you to give this post a go!

  1. My fave luxury lipstick had to be Nude Kate from Charlotte Tilbury! I have a few other faves but this one is too at the moment πŸ™‚ great post! Xxx

      1. I have one from the KISSING range and they are really moisturising, not drying at all and they also smell nice πŸ™‚ xx

      2. They sound really nice! I much prefer moisturising lip products to drying mattes. Nothing worse than dry lips!
And ah, the scent is always important! x

  2. Hey πŸ™‚

Wonderful post. I really am a sucker for all of these, honestly, but the Kate Moss one is just to die for. It’s a lovely shade of red and it’s matte and… yeah, perfect.

(And I don’t really own any ‘luxury lipstick’ at the moment.. I used to have a gorgeous Dior red – 832 and loved that one, but it went bad so I’m searching for a new one… I really love the MAC Ruby Woo, I might end up getting it)

    xx

PS: Loved the photos you took. πŸ™‚

    1. Thank you so much!
And hehe, I’m the same! Reading makeup posts is bad for me, I literally want everything!
I’ve never tried a Dior lipstick before – was the formulae any good? And I’ve heard a lot about Ruby Woo – but also that it’s quite drying? It is a gorgeous red though!
And I’m glad you liked the photos πŸ™‚

      1. Yeah, we have the same problem. I just keep expanding my unrealistic wishlist.
Yeah, it was great. I haven’t used it in a while so I don’t remember it completely, but it was good enough for me to use for a long enough period of time and not use up the entire product (so it went bad…) haha

Yeah, same, heard both amazing and terrible reviews of it. It’s a gorgeous shade, though.

      2. Haha, the problems of loving makeup!
And I hate it when a favourite goes bad, so annoying!
Let me know if you do try Ruby Woo, I’d live to know what you think πŸ™‚ x

    1. It’s such a pretty colour!
I’m always tempted but I doubt I’d get much wear out of it – I’m so shy of brighter colours!
      Thanks for sharing! x

      1. You are welcome and you know, I used to be afraid of wearing brighter colors (or more like staying outside of my comfort zone), but I began to think that makeup is an art, it’ something that people can play with and experiment with and there is so much possibility. So I say get out there an wear whatever color lipstick you want because makeup is art and it expresses who you are (:!
