Maybelline Colour Tattoos | Worth the hype?

Hi lovelies,

I’m back with another ‘worth the hype?’ today – this time on the Maybelline Colour Tattoos!

I’ve only got one shade, but that doesn’t stop me from having an opinion about them! I’ve decided to give them a full review today to let you guys know if I think that they’re worth the crazy hype that they get online.

Let’s get started, shall we?

So here’s the little jar, in all it’s glory. Pretty cute packaging, don’t you think?

My shade is Pink Gold – which is a pinky-gold metallic. So classic and pretty!

The packaging of these eyeshadows is definitely to my taste – firstly, they’re glass (which I prefer because they just feel that little bit more expensive) but also because you can see the colour through the lid.

Yes, that’s right, you don’t have to unscrew the lid of every one that you own to find what you’re looking for! Ah, makeup-hoarder problems. I’m sure some of youΒ feel my pain.

I do like the colour selection, although I wish they’d bring out a few more neutral shades – those of you who live in the States will have access to so many more colours though! We’ve just got the original line here, which I like but many colours are not to my taste – after all, who’s going to wear a full-on turquoise cream eyeshadow? Not me!

You also get a good amount of product for the reasonable Β£4.99 price tag, and they don’t dry up for a fair while too!

I’ll go onto the formula now!

So just incase you’re not familiar with these eyeshadows, they are basically cream bases designed to be layered with powder eyeshadow – or just used alone and blended out, which is how I usually wear them.

They’re very creamy and easy to blend – and the consistency means that they last all day on the lids without creasing, and keep other eyeshadow on the lids too if you use them as a base.

Here’s a swatch!

I think it would compliment lots of different skin tones too! I’m pale and I love it, but if you’ve got a darker complexion I also think it would look amazing.

Final Roundup

Price: Β£4.99
Packaging: 5/5 (glass AND you can see the colour without opening it!)
Consistency: Creamy and blendable. Very easy to work with.
Colour choice: 3/5 (in the UK. If you’re in the states – 5/5!)
Overall quality: 4/5
WORTH THE HYPE: Definitely! I can totally understand the hype around these eyeshadows; whether you’ve got dry skin or you’re oily, you like bright colours or neutral ones – this range will have something for you and I can’t recommend it enough!

Β I want to try more colours! Which ones do you recommend?

    1. Haha! They’re just too easy!
Do you wear the gold all over the lid? I’ve always wondered how to wear that one! It’s quite bold x

      1. That sounds like a great way to wear it. If I’m honest, the thought of wearing gold eyeshadow sort of scared me but I’m up for giving it a go paired with some other colours!
        Thanks for the tips! x

    1. Aw that’s such a shame! To be fair, I do have very yellow undertones so perhaps that’s why it works better for me. Have you tried any other shades? xx

    1. Haha they’re amazing! I’d definitely recommend them – they’re great alternatives to MAC Paintpots, which I do love but are a little pricey πŸ™‚ xx

    1. Haha that’s actually the next one on my list to try – and probably the only other one that I’d feel comfortable wearing! I think it’d work beautifully as a basic smokey eye.
      Thanks for commenting! x

      1. I haven’t tried that one but I suppose that it’s the only other colour in the range that appeals to me! It’s next on my wishlist! x

    1. They’re so handy to have for those days when you’re in a rush and need a wash of colour!
And this is probably my favourite colour from the range! So pretty πŸ™‚ x

    1. It’s a gorgeous shade! I also love how you can apply it lightly to get a sheer pinky sheen, or you can put on a little more to intensify the colour more πŸ™‚ xx

    1. Me too! Although I think being daring with colours is great I don’t think that there will ever be a time when I’m going to wear a metallic turquoise eyeshadow! Not going to happen! x

      1. I know – I’ve literally had this one for absolutely ages and barely made a dent in it!
And yes, you’d have to be brave to wear that colour haha πŸ™‚ xx
