Hi again everyone! I hope you’re all doing well.
Today’s post is going to be a beauty haul – I’ve done plenty of these before, but you guys know me, if I’ve got free time it’ll probably be spent in Boots or Superdrug. It’s rare when there’s a buy-free week.
Everything I’ve bought recently (apart from one sneaky purchase) is pretty affordable, so I’m not going to be too harsh on myself anyway.
So here goes!
First thing’s first, I picked up a new mascara to try out. I wanted to give the famous Maybelline The Falsies a go… But I think I picked up the wrong one? I’m not sure, but I think I should have got the one with the black lace pattern instead of the bright blue?
As I said, I can’t be certain, but I haven’t tried this yet so I can’t share my thoughts. It does have a fibrous wand though which is a sign that I’ll like it! Plastic wands just do nothing for me.
I also picked up this beautiful eyeshadow from L’Oreal! It’s in the shade 600 Opalescent and in the pan it looks white, but when swatched it has a gorgeous pinky-iridescent shimmer to it which is so unique. It’s actually very similar to a discontinued Bourjois eyeshadow that I’ve literally had for years, and let me tell you, that beauty has had a lot of love. It’s being rationed now because it’s so close to being empty and I can’t repurchase, but this is by far the closest match I’ve found!
I adore the texture of L’Oreal eyeshadows – they’re buttery and so pigmented. I’ve got a couple already so I’m keen to add this to my collection!
I was also quite naughty and decided to give the Bare Minerals Original Foundation a go. To be fair, this is something I’ve been lusting after for a long time – it definitely wasn’t an impulse purchase! You might have seen me talking about this in my recent everyday makeup routine, which you can check out here.
I’m always keen to try new foundations because my base just never seems to last on my skin – and I have to say, after giving this a fair go it doesn’t last the longest either. I love the finish at first and there’s no powdery residue whatsoever, but I just find it disappears as the day goes on! If any of you have any tips on that, I’m all ears. I will find a way to make this work, I will!
I also completely took advantage of The Body Shop’s 30% off sale last week and picked up some goodies that I’d had my eye on!
Firstly, I purchased one of the Shimmer Waves. I don’t really hear much about these online, but they’re supposedly dupes of the Bobbi Brown Shimmer Bricks and seeing as I’ve been looking into those I figured it’d be best to try these first.
I picked up 02 Blush which is very neutral and very pink – definitely in my comfort zone! You guys know I stick to the colours I love. I just find that pink compliments my skin tone better than corals or peaches.
It also has a lot of shimmer to it which I love; I prefer to use blushers that give you a glow and skip highlighting. Anything that can give me an extra few minutes in bed in the morning I’m all for! You can also use these on your eyes, so they’re amazing to throw into a makeup bag if you’re going away.
I’ve been eying this up for what seems like months – but it’s a little more pricey than your average drugstore bronzer so I kind of avoided picking it up… But when that 30% off sale was going on, there was no stopping me!
I’m quite fair so most bronzers look very orange and unnatural on my skin – and I’ve tried a lot of brands, drugstore and high end, and none have given a more natural effect than this one. It’s completely matte which I prefer to shimmer, and it’s so pigmented! Instant cheekbones with this one little product, I promise you.
Oh, and the packaging’s so cute!
So those are my recent buys! Yes, I’m meant to be saving for a big purchase, and yes, I’ve failed with saving so far.
Fingers crossed I can give my purse a break for a while!
Have you tried any of the products I picked up? Let me know your thoughts!
