Hi again lovelies!
I’m sure we’ve all had the urge to splurge on ridiculously expensive beauty products, be it because of the hype surrounding it or the gorgeous packaging (YSL, I’m looking at you).
But so many of us are stuck in the mind-set that ‘you get what you pay for’ – and I have to say, in many circumstances you do. But what about the times when you don’t get what you pay for, or you’re worried about wasting your hard-earned pennies?
That’s where today’s post comes in. I’m going to be sharing my favourite budget beauty buys with you – all makeup bits, you know me, but hopefully by the end of the post you’ll agree that you really can get some amazing products without the hefty price tag!
I’ll start with the base (because you know I’m all about that base, ’bout that base) and go for my beloved CC Cream from Bourjois. Now, if there’s one thing that Bourjois does well it has to be foundation, and hats off to them for this little beauty because it is just amazing! Don’t be fooled by the whole ‘CC Cream’ thing – this gives a medium coverage but can be built up and sheered out, and has the most beautiful finish – not dewy, not matte; just a perfect in-between.
I was considering trying NARS Sheer Glow but after discovering this I’m keeping my pennies in my purse, that’s for sure!
You can read my review of this gem here.
Next up is a classic palette that I think most people have in their stash – the MUA Undressed Palette. The word I would use to describe my relationship is obsessed to say the least! I had a major love affair with it summer-time last year when I literally used it every single day. The colours are all really neutral and easy to wear (although MUA do have some bright palettes if you’re after a pop of colour!) and the pigmentation is amazing for the price!
To be fair, the matte shades aren’t the best (if you’re after high-quality mattes, you’re going to have to go to Urban Decay!) but the metallics and shimmers are buttery and blend together really well.
If you’re after more info and swatches, just check out my review here!
If it’s blush you’re after, look no further than Sleek. I mean, come on – the biggest shade range, shimmers and mattes, amazing pigmentation and chic, sleek packaging. What more could you want?
I have Rose Gold which I reviewed here, and honestly, I love it! Apart from the travel-friendly packaging which is so up my street, this blusher blends out beautifully and stays looking perfect all day long!
Then there are these little beauties – the Barbara Daly Longwear Eyeshadows! Tell me, how widely available is this brand? If you can only get them here in the UK do let me know and I’ll shush about them!
Anyway, regardless of whether you can get them or not, these eyeshadows are literally amazing and pretty good dupes of the By Terry Ombre Black Stars! I’ve got the shade Shimmer Sand which is a bronzy-pink and Shell which is a golden-champagne.
Now, I won’t lie to you all, I don’t reach for these sticks everyday. If I said that I’d be telling little white lies! I do have other eyeshadows that I reach for more often… But for the price, pigmentation and lasting power (as well as their handy stick-form for travelling), you can’t go wrong really!
The Body Shop’s Honey Bronzer has to be my holy grail bronzer, even though I’ve only had it for about a week! Honestly, I mentioned it in last week’s haul and already the beautiful honey comb pattern is fading where I’ve been swirling my brush.
Anyway (ramble, ramble), I’m super pale so finding a bronzer that doesn’t make me go muddy can be quite the task! Although this is slightly more expensive than regular Boots-or-Superdrug bronzers, it’s a heck of a lot cheaper than the NARS Laguna that I’ve been eyeing up. PLUS, I’ve only heard good things about it!
I’m so glad I picked it up because now I just couldn’t be without it! This little compact gives me instant killer-cheekbones without giving me the tango-look.
So if you’re pale, or you’re just after a beautiful new bronzer – I’d recommend this one! And I will be reviewing it soon for you all, don’t worry!
And finally, finally we have Real Techniques Brushes. Ah, my collection is ever growing with these little treasures. I’ve been considering the ever-so-famous MAC 217 brush, but after finding out that it’s real hair I’m holding it off – these brushes are all synthetic, which makes me very happy indeed.
They’re so soft, they pick up product amazingly and are also really easy to clean! They may seem expensive considering that they’re marketed as ‘affordable’ brushes, but have a snoop at some of the Charlotte Tilbury brush prices and you’ll see what they’re getting at.
So those are my ‘worth the save’ beauty picks! Ooh, and stay tuned for Tuesday when I’ll be sharing my ‘worth the splurge‘ beauty products – because who doesn’t love a bit of luxury?
