The obligatory monthly makeup haul

Hey everyone!

So today’s post is going to be that obligatory makeup haul – I’m sure you all know the drill by now! I love makeup, I can never have too much… And I went to Boots. And Debenhams. And The Body Shop. And this is what happened.

As you can see, I don’t splurge half-heartedly.

Just to put your minds at rest too, I am going to be saving my pennies for a wee while after my naughty splurge at the weekend which you can read about here. These bits and bobs I picked up before that, so they don’t count… Right? Oh well, the deed’s done now!

olay total effects 7 in one pore minimizer cc cream

So the first product that I bought to smudge onto my skin in the upcoming days is this – it’s from Olay and (brace yourself) it is the Total Effects 7-in-1 Pore Minimizing CC Cream. You can breathe again! That’s a name and a half, isn’t it?

Anyway, the weather’s finally starting to heat up here in the UK and I’m definitely leaving my heavy foundations in my beauty draw. I just prefer something a lot lighter – and also with some SPF to protect my skin! The Olay one just seemed absolutely perfect, because from reviews I’ve read it’s lightweight but gives a decent coverage. I can’t wait to try it!

rimmel glam eyes 5 colour eyeshadow

Next up is this little palette from Rimmel – the Glam Eyes HD 5 Colour Eyeshadow palette, if you want to be precise about things. It’s in the shade 22Β Brixton Brown, and I bought it mainly because I have one of the Glam Eyes quads from Rimmel and the quality of the shadows is amazing.

But… *spoiler alert* I think some of the quality is lost in this palette! The colours take a while to load onto the lid and even though they look pretty at first, the shades just blend away after a few minutes.

Super disappointing! The colours are pretty, but the quality isn’t so.

maybelline brow drama

I also picked up a new product for my brows, and knowing me, I don’t like to be boring so I didn’t pick up a powder or pencil. Instead I decided to try the Brow Drama from Maybelline as I’ve read glowing reviews and was just intrigued!

So far, I’m absolutely loving this! It’s way better than the Rimmel brow gels and coats each hair in colour, giving a really natural effect. I’m in love!

Maxfactor excess shimmer

I also spotted these which looked cool – they’re the MaxFactor Excess Shimmer thingys, which I think are for your eyes. I’m assuming so, anyway!

They reminded me of the Colour Tattoos from Maybelline which I absolutely love, but more mousse-y – plus there were some gorgeous neutral colours that I feel like the Colour Tatto line is lacking in.

I chose 20 Copper (a pinky-bronze) and then 25 Bronze (a red-toned brown). BothΒ of them are really shimmery and pigmented! I can’t wait to wear these under some neutral shadows!

the body shop born lippie

I also picked up two more of the Born Lippy balms – these are really, really nice! Unlike Vaseline which I find to have a very greasy, oily texture, these balms are almost gel-like.

I just find them to really soften the lips and condition them, whilst not leaving my lips addicted like I find Vaseline to!

I picked up Watermelon (left) and Raspberry (right). I’ve already tried Passionberry and Satsuma Shimmer, so I’m excited to add these to the collection and give you guys a full review!

I recently made a Look Fantastic order and this little freebie arrived with my (rather large) order! It’s the NudeStix Magnetic Eye Colour in the shade Gilt.

Now this is so, so expensive – that little pencil you see on the photo? That’s a full size for a whopping Β£24. If you purchase one yourself I think they come with a little sharpener too, but the price is just crazy for only 2.8g of product! The product is very rich and creamy but the price is a little intense, I’m sure you’ll agree.

And finally, finally, I treated myself to two lipsticks.

The first is from MaxFactor and it’s in the shade 825 Pink Brandy. I already have one of these in a pink colour, but this is more of a peachy-coral – perfect for the summer months! It comes out nothing like it seems in the bullet so scroll down a bit to see a swatch.

And the other lipstick was very naughty of me – but I don’t feel bad in the slightest! It’s another YSL lipstick – this time from the Volupte Sheer Candy range, as I’ve read glowing reviews. It’s in the shade 8 Iced Plum. Beautiful. Just beautiful.

Here are swatches of all of the products I mentioned!

    1. I’m going to be giving this a full review within the next few weeks with clearer and more detailed swatches! I think I’ll be doing one on my lips too, so do keep your eye out for that if you’re interested.
It’ll be up within two weeks! xx

      1. It will be up as soon as I feel that I’ve tested it enough. It is quite tricky but im determined to make it perfect! There’s just so much info to include I have to make sure I haven’t forgotten anything! x

    1. Thank you! And I’d 100% recommend the Brow Drama – same as you, pencils just bored me! There’s also a pretty good shade range and it’s perfect if you’re in a rush.
And lipsticks are my guilty pleasure, definitely! You can never have too many, right? xx

      1. That’s my way of thinking too – gonna have a wee splurge this Friday so looking forward to *hopefully* picking some up! I really need to work on my lippy collection, it’s drastically sad in comparison to others – I seem to be hoarding glosses and balms this weather πŸ˜€ X

      2. Ooh what’s this exciting purchase? You’re intriguing me!
And I feel your pain! A girl needs plenty of lipsticks, am I right? xx

      1. Oh that’s such a shame! MaxFactor’s got some great bits and bobs, although you have NYX over there which we don’t have here in the UK which is so annoying!
The Colour Tattoos are great alternatives! I just wish we had more neutral shades over here, as some of them are quite wild to say the least! x

      2. That’s so annoying! I’m desperate to try NYX but you can only buy online, and I have to swatch! It’s a must!
I’ve heard good things about that shade! Isn’t it a dupe for MAC’s Bare Study? I love that but a cheaper option would be amazing! xx
