So today’s post is going to be that obligatory makeup haul – I’m sure you all know the drill by now! I love makeup, I can never have too much… And I went to Boots. And Debenhams. And The Body Shop. And this is what happened.
As you can see, I don’t splurge half-heartedly.
Just to put your minds at rest too, I am going to be saving my pennies for a wee while after my naughty splurge at the weekend which you can read about here. These bits and bobs I picked up before that, so they don’t count… Right? Oh well, the deed’s done now!
So the first product that I bought to smudge onto my skin in the upcoming days is this – it’s from Olay and (brace yourself) it is the Total Effects 7-in-1 Pore Minimizing CC Cream. You can breathe again! That’s a name and a half, isn’t it?
Anyway, the weather’s finally starting to heat up here in the UK and I’m definitely leaving my heavy foundations in my beauty draw. I just prefer something a lot lighter – and also with some SPF to protect my skin! The Olay one just seemed absolutely perfect, because from reviews I’ve read it’s lightweight but gives a decent coverage. I can’t wait to try it!
Next up is this little palette from Rimmel – the Glam Eyes HD 5 Colour Eyeshadow palette, if you want to be precise about things. It’s in the shade 22 Brixton Brown, and I bought it mainly because I have one of the Glam Eyes quads from Rimmel and the quality of the shadows is amazing.
But… *spoiler alert* I think some of the quality is lost in this palette! The colours take a while to load onto the lid and even though they look pretty at first, the shades just blend away after a few minutes.
Super disappointing! The colours are pretty, but the quality isn’t so.
I also picked up a new product for my brows, and knowing me, I don’t like to be boring so I didn’t pick up a powder or pencil. Instead I decided to try the Brow Drama from Maybelline as I’ve read glowing reviews and was just intrigued!
So far, I’m absolutely loving this! It’s way better than the Rimmel brow gels and coats each hair in colour, giving a really natural effect. I’m in love!
I also spotted these which looked cool – they’re the MaxFactor Excess Shimmer thingys, which I think are for your eyes. I’m assuming so, anyway!
They reminded me of the Colour Tattoos from Maybelline which I absolutely love, but more mousse-y – plus there were some gorgeous neutral colours that I feel like the Colour Tatto line is lacking in.
I chose 20 Copper (a pinky-bronze) and then 25 Bronze (a red-toned brown). Both of them are really shimmery and pigmented! I can’t wait to wear these under some neutral shadows!
I also picked up two more of the Born Lippy balms – these are really, really nice! Unlike Vaseline which I find to have a very greasy, oily texture, these balms are almost gel-like.
I just find them to really soften the lips and condition them, whilst not leaving my lips addicted like I find Vaseline to!
I picked up Watermelon (left) and Raspberry (right). I’ve already tried Passionberry and Satsuma Shimmer, so I’m excited to add these to the collection and give you guys a full review!
I recently made a Look Fantastic order and this little freebie arrived with my (rather large) order! It’s the NudeStix Magnetic Eye Colour in the shade Gilt.
Now this is so, so expensive – that little pencil you see on the photo? That’s a full size for a whopping £24. If you purchase one yourself I think they come with a little sharpener too, but the price is just crazy for only 2.8g of product! The product is very rich and creamy but the price is a little intense, I’m sure you’ll agree.
And finally, finally, I treated myself to two lipsticks.
The first is from MaxFactor and it’s in the shade 825 Pink Brandy. I already have one of these in a pink colour, but this is more of a peachy-coral – perfect for the summer months! It comes out nothing like it seems in the bullet so scroll down a bit to see a swatch.
And the other lipstick was very naughty of me – but I don’t feel bad in the slightest! It’s another YSL lipstick – this time from the Volupte Sheer Candy range, as I’ve read glowing reviews. It’s in the shade 8 Iced Plum. Beautiful. Just beautiful.
Here are swatches of all of the products I mentioned!
