A happy Saturday to you all! I hope you’re enjoying your weekend and that the weather’s as beautiful as it is here. It’s rare the skies are so blue in the UK and I’ve been chilling in the garden, making the most of it!
Today I’m going to be reviewing my brand new YSL Volupte Sheer Candy in #8 Iced Plum which I mentioned in my recent beauty haul! You guys seemed to love the colour and I got a couple of review requests, so here goes.
YSL is pretty well known for the stunning packaging – and I have to agree, it kind of is to die for! Everything from the silver tube, to the golden detailing, to the weight of it just make it feel so luxurious!
All of the range come in this stunning packaging, with a band in the centre showing the lipstick’s shade – SUPER handy if you have more than one; you know exactly what you’re picking up before you even open it.
But you aren’t getting that designer packaging for nothing – just one of these lipsticks retails for a whopping £25-£26! It honestly depends on the colour you’re after – the cheaper ones are just as pretty as the pricier ones. Me, of course, having expensive taste, paid £26 for this little beauty. And although it kind of broke the bank, I can’t say I’m regretting it!
Now let’s discuss the shade and the formula!
So, as mentioned in my haul, the shade in the tube is very misleading – it did not appeal to me one bit in the tube, but swatched my thoughts were very, very different (I ended up purchasing it, after all!).
On the lips it is a beautiful sheer berry-pink:
The formula is also beautiful and much to my taste – sheer, glossy, and very nourishing too. It’s perfect for days when my lips are a little dry, as it glides over dry patches without clinging to them.
I also love the longevity of the product – although it doesn’t last quite as long as some of my other lipsticks, for a glossy product the colour lasts a good 1-2 hours and once the initial gloss has worn off you’re left with a stain on the lips.
If you do eat or drink within that time though, it’ll definitely wear off and you’ll need to touch up. I think that’s pretty standard for most lipsticks though, don’t you?
Price: £25-£26 (depends on the shade)
Packaging: 5/5 (so luxurious and beautiful. Feels weighty and wins a spot on my dressing table, definitely!)
Formula: Sheer, nourishing
Longevity: 1-2 hours
Colour selection: 5/5 (you’ll definitely find one for you!)
Overall quality: 5/5
Recommended: Definitely! Hefty price tag aside, these lipsticks are just beautiful – from the packaging to the shades to the formula, if you haven’t tried these already you’re missing out!
