Hi! Happy Saturday to you all!
I hope you’re enjoying your long weekend and that the sun’s made an appearance for you. Unfortunately I feel like winter’s crept back into the beautiful spring weather I was just getting used to! It’s been raining all day today, which has ruined my plans of chilling in the garden. Ah well. Weather here in the UK is always unpredictable!
Anywho, I thought I’d share my spring essentials with you today! As you know, I’m partial to a monthly favourites here and there, and this for me is an extra one to throw in for good measure.
First up we have pastels. Pastels in any shape or form are ideal for spring, but I’ve gone for nails.
Barry M have the best selection of pastel shades in my opinion, and I love the formula of the Gelly range!
I particularly love Rose Hip (a super-pale pink), Papaya (a peach) and Sugar Apple (pastel turquoise and a dupe for Essie’s Mint Candy Apple). Although they do take a while to dry I find them to be completely opaque in a couple of coats and they give a beautiful glossy sheen.
As for base, I’ve gone for the Highlighting Serum from B – a brand you can buy in Superdrug. I picked this up because a) I LOVE dewy skin, b) anything hydrating is a bonus as I have dry skin and c) I hate heavy foundation, and this fits those picky preferences of mine to a T.
I’ve been using a pump of my Wake Me Up foundation along with a pump of this and I am more than impressed! The serum has highlighting pearls in it so it gives you the most stunning glowy skin – a must in this season.
Sticking with the glowy theme, I love love love to use cream blushers at this time of the year – they just give you that healthy glow that I constantly crave when the sun’s shining. My current go-to’s are the Max Factor Miracle Touch Creamy Blushers – especially the shade Soft Murano, but I also love Soft Candy which is more red.
Unlike other creams that I’ve used in the past these aren’t cream to powder – they stay dewy all day long.
If you’re more oily powder can still look beautiful! ‘He loves me maybe…’ from Zoeva is bee-oo-tiful whether you’re fair or darker.
As for eyes, you could either go for something very glowy and natural looking like Bare Study from MAC or Pearl Beige from Max Factor (they’re pretty much identical!), or you could go in the opposite direction and take this as a chance to experiment with brights!
As mentioned in my Zoeva haul, their eyeshadows are out of this world in quality and the Mixed Metals palette has some stunning colours in it. If you’d like to see swatches, see here!
As for lips… I love corals and peaches in the spring and summer! Especially those with a sheer formula, as I just feel like they look so much softer (the ones shown are Zoeva Faith&Love and Max Factor Pink Brandy. The Max Factor one, for some reason, looks bright red, but it isn’t – it’s coral, promise!). I also love any bright colours, so I’ve gone for YSL’s Volupte Sheer Candy in Iced Plum – these lippies are a big splurge but are such a guilty pleasure of mine! True, they break the bank every time I buy another one, but I don’t regret purchasing in the slightest.
And the packaging is just a little bit lovely!
If all else fails though, I don’t think you can go wrong with a gloss in the spring. I’m a complete gloss addict and own way more of them than I do lipsticks – they’re just so low maintenance! I especially love Max Factor’s Lustrous Sand at the minute; not sticky in the slightest but very nourishing and glossy.
And those, ladies and gents, are my spring essentials. Or, shall I say, the edited version of my spring essentials. I wanted to include triple the amount of products and had to cut down majorly! These are my absolute must-haves for this time of the year (which, by the way, is possibly my favourite time).
What’s your number one spring essential?
Enjoy your bank holiday weekend!
PS How completely adorable is the little royal princess?
