A wee beauty splurge

Just a sidenote – it wasn’t ‘wee’ at all, it actually broke the bank and left me with an empty purse.

Hey guys! Hope you’re all doing well… And enjoying your weekend! The sun has been peeping through the clouds all day but it’s finally decided to come out for the sunset, my favourite time of the day.

As you’ve probably already guessed from the title I’ve done a fair amount of shopping recently and managed to gouge my pockets out in the process. Despite this I’m chuffed with the new bits and pieces I’ve picked up, so I thought why not share them with you all?

rimmel wake me up concealer

Let’s start things off by discussing my repurchase of the Wake Me Up concealer from Rimmel. It didn’t take me long to completely drain my other tube of this concealer and I had to repurchase practically immediately – I doubt I could live without this!

The only difference is this time I picked up the shade Ivory, whereas last time I had Classic Beige. I coped just fine with Classic Beige but it was slightly too dark for my skin – especially for under the eyes where I like to have a brightened effect anyway.

essie haute in the heat

Also from Boots I picked up a nail polish from Essie in the shade Haute in the Heat – and oh man, am I obsessed with this! Why, I hear you say? Well, why not? Just look at that rich raspberry pink shade!

This is actually my first Essie nail polish EVER and all I can say is that I can guarantee I’ll be going back for more, because it goes on opaque with two coats, dries really quickly and lasts forever, especially on my toes.

max factor lip balms

I also spotted these which are relatively new from Max Factor – the Colour Intensifying Balms. And because I’m a makeup junkie and I’m especially obsessed with sheer lip products, I loaded my basket with four shades to try out (Luscious Red, Refined Rose, Charming Coral and Sumptuous Candy).

Although I do think that they’re a bit overpriced, I love love love the actual formula. It’s very light and moisturising on the lips and doesn’t cling to dry patches and make them look obvious. Despite it being a balm the formula also gives a good amount of colour to the lips – don’t you just hate it when you buy a coloured balm but on the lips it turns out to just be clear? SUCH A PAIN!

My favourite shades are Luscious Red (because I’m scared of opaque reds) and Refined Rose (because it’s my perfect ‘your lips but pinker’ product).

l'oreal j-lo nude

Also for lips I finally invested in JLo’s Nude lipstick from L’Oreal. I have literally wanted this lipstick for the longest time, but I’ve always said to myself no, you have enough lipsticks as it is, do you really need another one? But the answer to that question is yes, I did need another one. This one.

I’ve only worn this lippie once but I can already tell I’m going to be wearing it A LOT. It’s a very unique nude – it’s pinky-brown, but it’s also got mauve tones in there too which make it different to anything else in my collection.

maybelline on and on bronze

I’ve also got my hands on two cream eye products recently – the first one being the Topshop Eye Gleam in Noir, which I don’t think they sell anymore! I’ve had a good old look but I just can’t find it. My friend hadn’t used it and asked me if I’d like it, and I thought it’d be perfect for a one step smoky eye (it’s the shadow on the left).

The other is the oh-so-famous On and On Bronze which I am completely in love with! I knew I’d like it as I love the formula of Pink Gold, but I’ve been wearing it every single day. It pairs beautifully with my Naked palette.

bobbi brown pot rouge

Finally I have two slightly more expensive products – the first is another of the Bobbi Brown Pot Rouges; I already have one in Pale Pink and I love the formula so I was after another. This is the shade Pretty Powerful Pink and I have a feeling this is limited edition as it’s in different packaging. It’s such a gorgeous colour and the finish is perfect for the summer!

smashbox o-glow

Finally we have the Smashbox O-Glow Intuitive Cheek Colour, which is a clear gel that supposedly adapts to the colour that you blush naturally… It’s a bit of an odd concept, right? I thought it’d be a fun product to do a review of to see if it’s a gimmick or not! I haven’t used it on my cheeks yet but I love the bright pink colour it blends into when I swatch it! I’ll be sure to report back ASAP.

Here’s swatches of everything mentioned:

Name one product you’ve picked up recently!

Wishing you a beautiful, sunny, smile-filled week!

    1. Thank you lovely! So many of my blogger friends are from the US and we’re always discussing how it sucks that you don’t have Max Factor! Such a shame! The balms are so good, but then you do have Sephora which makes me incredibly jealous haha x

      2. It’s so annoying! I love Max Factor as a brand. And yes can we please swap?! I’d do anything to get a Sephora near me! Haha x

    1. Haha I’m always like that. And that’s such a pain – I’m sure you’ve got some amazing brands out there though that I can never get my hands on! x

      1. Not that I know. 😞 i feel like Dubai us deprived of such variety of brands. We have all the old school brands. Not much to choose from.

    1. You sound just like me lovely! I was always lusting after it but for some reason never purchased.
I’ll definitely let you know my thoughts ASAP too – only worn it once so I’ll wait till I’m certain how I feel about it and then do a full review if you’d like x
