Happy Sunday, everyone. Hope you’ve had a good day – and I hope you like the new blog design too. I fancied a change. Let me know what you think!
Today’s post is dedicated to sharing some rather exciting purchases with you… The Bold Metals brushes from the Real Techniques luxury line.
As you’ll know if you’ve been here for a while, I’m a HUGE fan of the original brushes from Real Techniques and have been lusting after this luxury line pretty much since they came out at the start of the year. I’ve always put it off as they’re rather pricey little numbers, but I finally caved thanks to an offer at Boots (keep reading to find out more about that!).
I just wanted to show you the ones I picked up from the collection and share some of my excitement with you all!
So… As you can see from the packaging, they’re flipping beautiful – any makeup brush lover is bound to swoon over them – and the effort that’s been put into these brushes doesn’t stop at the packaging. They have other features too which add to the whole ‘luxury’ feel (which I like, as they were EXPENSIVE).
~ The bristles are the highest grade of synthetic fibre, which means that they are incredibly soft and are really easy to clean.
~ Each bristle is individually tapered to mimic real hair, which means that they’ll pick up the perfect amount of product.
~ The weighted handles allow the brushes to sit in the hand comfortably so that you have maximum control when applying your makeup.
~ The handle tips taper to a diamond shape so that the brush will not roll about when you put it down.
~ The bristles are not only glued but also tied into the ferrule so that they don’t shed as easily.
~ The white bristles show exactly how much product is on the brush prior to application.
I’m talking like an expert – I’m not, I’ve just done a heck of a lot of research into these brushes before splurging on them!
They sound good though, right? Which they should for the price!
I picked up two from the line – the two which I thought were the most versatile and unique because I didn’t want to waste my money (even though I’d have happily bought all of them; they’re so gorgeous).
The first is the 100 Arched Powder Brush which is not only the softest brush in the universe, it’s also such a multi-tasker! Of course it would be great for applying powder – I love paddle brushes to do that; big fluffy brushes sort of drown me! – but it also looks perfect for bronzer and subtle contouring (because it’s flat) as well as blusher. The Tapered Blush brush in the collection has proved really popular, but I don’t like small brushes for blusher – I love fluffier, sparser ones to apply a sheer wash of colour to the cheeks.
The possibilities are endless with this bad boy and I can’t wait to use it.
The regular price for this brush is £25 *gasps* but on offer it was £18.75, which is still expensive but not so heart wrenching.
The other one that I picked up is an eye brush – the 201 Pointed Crease. Again, a multi-tasker, but I mainly chose this as it’s so unique! I don’t own anything like this and I haven’t seen anything like this before either, drugstore or high-end.
I know they all say ‘practice makes perfect’, but to be honest, I’ve practised my socks off in terms of blending through the crease and I’ve never quite mastered it. This brush is such an unusual shape but it looks like it will fit perfectly into the socket.
I also thought it’d be great for blending eyeshadow under the lower lashline, and I saw Kathleen Lights use this under her brow to highlight as it comes to such a precise point.
The usual price for this brush is £12 but on offer it was only £9.
I’ve been putting off purchasing these brushes and I’m so happy that I’ve finally taken the plunge and done so! I haven’t had chance to use them yet but expect a review in the very near future. I hope they don’t disappoint!
As for the offer, Boots currently have 25% off the full Bold Metals line, meaning you can save a lot of money if you’ve been thinking about picking these brushes up! If you’re interested in this offer I’d get on it ASAP because they’re going to sell out like hot cakes (or, in this case, like stunning brushes).
See HERE for this offer!
Just before I finish up this post, I have to mention that I tweeted about these yesterday when I purchased them and SAM CHAPMAN retweeted me. Yes. I’ll leave you to imagine my reaction, taking into account that Pixiwoo are a massive inspiration to me.
Have you tried Bold Metals? Which brush is your favourite?
PS I hit 600 followers in the last few days! I wanted to say a massive thank you to you all! You make blogging such a rewarding hobby and it’s the best thing I ever turned to.
LOVE YOU! xx
