Although Boots is my second home and I’m pretty sure that my heart will always belong in the depths of the drugstore, we all need a bit of luxury sometimes… Am I right?
I’d probably say that about 70% of my makeup stash is made up of affordable products, but in the last few years I’ve started to explore the realms of departments stores and found some real gems that I honestly do think are worth spending that little bit more on!
In today’s post I’ve decided to update you on my ‘products worth the splurge’ (if you’d like to see my original post on this see here – cringe, I know!) and my next post will be all about my top affordable makeup picks!
The first product to have a natter to you about is one of my favourite high-end face products, and it’s the Copacabana Illuminator from NARS. I picked this up recently on a bit of a whim I suppose, but I’ve found myself feeling slightly addicted to this stuff.
For any of you who’ve not heard of Copacabana before and are probably rather confused as to why I love it, it’s basically a liquid highlighter that is designed to give you a radiant and healthy complexion – and as I’m a dewy girl through and through, it’s my perfect partner in crime.
Not only can you dab this onto the cheekbones and just under the brows, you can also apply it before your base or mix it in with your foundation for even more glow!
I’ve never found anything anywhere near similar to this at a cheaper price point, and although it’s a spendy one I do think it’s worth it.
For eyes I’m sure you guys won’t be surprised to know that my holy grail eyeshadows, drugstore or high-end, are undoubtedly my Naked Palettes from Urban Decay. I currently own the Naked 1 and 2 (as well as my Naked On The Run) and I can’t recommend them enough to you all!
Zoeva palettes aside, as they’re just gorgeous, I’ve never found a palette of a good price that is of exceptional quality. You can find some good eggs at Boots in the single-shadow department, but I feel like quality is lost when it comes to duos, trios and palettes.
Every single eyeshadow in a Naked Palette is just incredible – they’re buttery soft, have an amazing shine to them and are beautifully pigmented, and although they do have a bit of fallout during application I find that once they’re on the lids they don’t budge.
The Naked 1 is my personal favourite as I feel the warmer, bronze tones compliment my yellow undertones and dark hair and eyes, but the Naked 2 has some stunning taupe shades which I also adore.
If you like makeup, you NEED a Naked Palette in your life!
Finally, a lip product. I wanted to include a favourite high-end item from the face, eyes and lips categories, and this is definitely my favourite splurge-y lipstick.
It’s from YSL and it’s the Volupte Sheer Candy Glossy Balm in the shade 8 Iced Plum, which I’ve actually reviewed and swatched on my lips here.
It’s a gorgeous sheer purple colour that adds a boost of hydration and a glossy tint to the lips, and once the sheen has worn off it leaves you with a pretty stain. Seeing as I wear sheer lip products most, I do love this particular one for the colour, longevity and of course, the stunning YSL packaging.
I will say that although I love this glossy balm a whole lot, I definitely wouldn’t say it’s worth the £26 I paid for it…? If you think that’s not too pricey and it’s the normal amount you’d pay for a lipstick I’d definitely recommend giving one a try, but they are spendy numbers!
So those are the products that I really do think are worth their price tags!
What’s your favourite high-end product?
