Happy Saturday! I’ve had such a busy day but I’ve managed to find some time in between completing my list of things to do and so I thought I’d get this post written and up for you all!
Firstly, I wanted to say a HUGE thank you to you all for the great response I’ve had to my ‘products worth the save’ series – I didn’t think they’d go down as well as they turned out to, so seeing as some of you seemed to enjoy them I’m back with the last instalment today, and this time it’s all about the lips.
If you’re anything like me, you’ll love a good lipstick, and I’ve quite the collection buried in my beauty draws. It was a tough ol’ challenge to narrow the numbers down, but these are definitely the crème-de-la-crème of the vast choice of drugstore lip products.
The first of the little stash of lippie bits and bobs I have to share are the well-known and well-loved Rimmel Kate Moss Lipsticks. I currently have the shades 110 (that gorgeous red) and 08 (the pinky-nude featured in my recent beauty haul!). I love these lipsticks for oh-so-many reasons, and I will be writing a full review on them soon if you’d like to see that.
The formula is beautifully rich and creamy, and they glide onto the lips opaque in one swipe, but they glide over any imperfections on the lips at the same time too. Most of them have a matte finish, and although the nude in the snap up there does have a slight sheen to it I wouldn’t call it glossy at all.
I just love love love these lipsticks, and no doubt my collection will continue to grow!
Next up is another very popular one – the Lip Butters from Revlon. Strangely I only own one of these, despite the range of shades available being huge and there’s constantly new ones being added!
At first I really didn’t see the hype with these lipsticks – I had imagined a lip butter to be, well, I don’t know, buttery? That’s what I’d expected from the name anyhow, and was left disappointed. Although I loved the shade (Sweet Tart) I found it sticky, too opaque and not moisturising.
However, as I’ve worn it more it’s grown on me and I probably wore this through the whole of the summer, as it’s such a gorgeous bright shade. It is a bit sticky, but it has a stunning sheen to it and lasts a good amount of time too. I WANT MORE!
I wrote a raving review on the Max Factor Colour Elixir Lipsticks, so no doubt none of you will be shocked to find them in this post!
Nobody talks about these lipsticks and that makes me so sad, because Max Factor have created some really incredible products right HERE! I have the shades Midnight Mauve (left) and Mulberry (right) and the formula is just to die for. They’re pigmented but can be sheered out for a more subtle look, and they’re really moisturising and glossy.
‘Another Max Factor product?’ I hear you ask? Well, yes. I do love Max Factor and I think that their lip products are especially gorgeous and definitely underrated. This gloss from them is in the shade Lustrous Sand and it’s the most perfect combination of pink and nude which suits my skin tone perfectly.
It’s not sticky at all, so for those of you out there who despise that tacky texture (guys, I feel you) this would be perfect for you. It also has really excellent lasting powder (providing you’re not snacking with it on!).
And my final lip product worth the save is this glossy chubby stick from Soap & Glory, in the shade Nudist. This is another rather popular one, but it’s worth the fuss, let me tell you!
I heard many-a-YouTuber raving on and on about this darn lipstick, and in the end I just thought OKAY. OKAY. I’ll buy it. If you all think it’s this flipping good, I want it to. No, I need it. And I fell in love before I could say okay, okay, you were all right. THIS IS AMAZING!
It’s such a pretty toffee nude shade and it’s glossy too, so if you don’t want to go the whole Velvet Teddy matte route for a good nude lipstick, I’d guess that you’d like this. I’m pretty pale and I love how it looks on me, yet I’ve seen pictures of ladies with quite deep skin tones and it looks incredible on them too.
So those are my tippity-top lip products that won’t break the bank. It was tough to narrow them down, but I love each and every one I’ve told you about!
