The famous NARS Copacabana Illuminator | Review

If you’re a highlighting addict like I am, or you’re a dewy skin gal through and through, I don’t doubt for a second that the NARS Copacabana Illuminator will be new to you.

Being someone who has extremely dry, dehydrated skin, it’s easy to look dull and lifeless with many a foundation, especially on a budget. I struggle with finding a foundation that’s moisturising enough and doesn’t cling to dry patches as the day goes on, so I decided to stop searching for the ‘perfect foundation’ and find something that I could use alongside a foundation – any one at all – and still maintain that radiance!

That’s where Copacabana comes in, and seeing as it’s firm favourite of mine and something that l will forever be part of my daily routine, I thought that it’s only fair to share why I love it so!

Here’s the highlighter on my cheekbones, where I wear it every day.

I’ll start with a very quick discussion of packaging and price.

Price-wise… Let’s get to the point. This is NARS – it’s not Barry M, Rimmel, and it certainly won’t have the pricetags of those brands! NARS is 100% high end, and this product did cost me Β£23 *gasps* but DON’T WORRY – it’s not like a foundation that you’ll be using up any time soon!

The product is super pigmented and therefore you only need the tiniest amount, so it’ll last you for ages.

The packaging seems pretty rubbish at first (‘I’m sorry, how much did I pay for plastic packaging?!’) but because it’s so intensely pigmented I find that the squeezy-tube makes it really easy to get the exact amount that you’re after out of the packaging. You can also see when (if) you’re running out, should you want to repurchase.

As for the formula, I wouldn’t be using it like I do if I didn’t adore it! Man, I just love this stuff.

It’s a liquid highlighter so it’s very intense and rich in pigment, meaning you only need the teeniest tiniest amount – as I said before, a tube will last you a very long time.

It’s not a greasy liquid though, which is one of the main reasons that I love it. It doesn’t feel slipperly or slimy, or greasy on the skin at all because once you’ve blended (and you need to blend quite quickly) it sets into place and lasts all day WITHOUT FAIL. It’s bullet proof!

This is another reason that I think it’s worthwhile to share this find with you, because I know many of my oily-skinned friends love looking dewy but can’t use a moisturising foundation because they end up like an oil slick. Sound familiar? You’ll love this NARS highlighter because it sets into place, and gives glow minus the grease!

I also LOVE to mix this into my foundation and then buff it onto the skin; if you like dewy, you’ll go through tubes and tubes of this stuff and it’s great for radiating your foundation even if you’re oily.

So that, ladies and gents, rounds up my thoughts on the NARS Copacabana Illuminator. You can buy your own here.

What’s your favourite highlighter – budget or splurge-y?

    1. Aw thank you lovely! That’s so sweet of you!
It’s a beautiful product but rather pricey… I can see why you dread to run out of your sample. Good thing is though that a little goes a long way; I bet that’s lasting you ages!
      Have a great week! xxx

      1. Ooh, I like Highbeam too! Copacabana wins for me though it’s so versatile πŸ™‚
I haven’t tried that blush but I love some other NARS blushers such as Adoration. I have the Sleek equivalent to Orgasm in Rose Gold and it’s such a pretty shade! xx
