2015 Beauty Favourites | Part 1

It’s coming to that time when one year comes to a close and a new one opens up with new opportunities… But before I get completely invested in the excitement of the new year, I thought I’d have a little look back on the beauty bits that I’ve loved through 2015!

I attempted (and, unfortunately, failed) to narrow down the products I wanted to talk about to a minimum, but I eventually gave up and am just going to split things up into two parts so I get to discuss all of the things I’ve loved over the year!

First up is a makeup brush… And, as you probably know by now, I am rather partial to a good old brush! It was really hard not to pick about ten but I managed to pick out my favourite eventually, and it’s the Real Techniques Blush Brush.
I ended up picking this one simply because I have used it religiously for absolutely everything – powder, bronzer, blusher, highlighter, you name it, this brush has helped to apply and buff it. As it’s sparse I love it for applying sheer, shimmery blushers but also applies bronzer evenly. Because of it’s tapered tip I can also use it for highlighting… I just love this brush, and it’s probably my perfect favourite from the whole Real Techniques line!

Another item that I have used religiously over the past year and is very well loved (as you can see from the dust-covered compact – oops)Β  is this Max Factor Smoky Eye Drama Kit in Opulent Nudes. I reviewed & swatched this here.
I am very picky, and, let’s he honest, rather snobby when it comes to eyeshadow… I am dedicated to Urban Decay and am partial to a bit of Tom Ford too, so I was surprised by this little compact and have grown to love it.
The matte shadows are incredibly pigmented and blend just beautifully and are incredibly pigmented. I also use the darkest shade to fill in my brows!

Being a dewy-skin fanatic, it didn’t come as much surprise when NARS Copacabana Illuminator became an immediate favourite of mine! Again I have reviewed this here.
This is a liquid highlighter that can be used both under, over or mixed in with foundation, and I have enjoyed it for all three of those purposes throughout the year! Mixed in with foundation it gives the product moisturising properties and really awakens my dull looking, extremely dry skin.

Another product which I only discovered this year and have fallen totally head-over-heels for is Coralista from Benefit, reviewed here.
Why, oh why have I only just discovered this?! I couldn’t be without it now! I have a strong yellow undertone to my skin and for some reason always drifted towards pink-toned cheek products and avoided corals. I didn’t want to have an orange flush!
However this blusher gives you a beautifully natural sunkissed glow that looks incredibly natural and is a summer must-have.

The award for my favourite eyeshadow discovery BY FAR this year has to go to MAC’s Smokey Mauve *claps* (review here).
I’m sure you can tell by the photo that this is definitely a compact that has been opened over and over!
I just adore the colour, and not only this, but the intense shimmer that looks stunning when patted across the central lid. It also has excellent lasting power and barely falls down at all!

Finally, I have a lipstick… The YSL VoluptΓ© Sheer Candy in 8 Iced Plum (review & lipswatch here) wins in the sheer lipstick category!
Although this is a product that I often forget about, over the summer I was totally addicted to it’s glossy tint of colour and fantastic longevity! Although the gloss wears down within an hour of wear your lips will be stained for several hours after.
It’s also a very moisturising formula and I think that the colour would suit a lot of people!

So that’s part 1 of my 2015 beauty favourites! Stay tuned for part 2 which will be up over the weekend.

What are your 2015 beauty standouts? I would love to know!

      1. Oh you sound just like me! ‘I need this pink lipstick which looks the same as 5 lipsticks in my handbag & 10 back home’.
But honestly, this is a right gem! A very special product I’m not sure you could find on a budget… Pop it on your 2016 shopping list! πŸ™‚ xx

      1. Ah you would love this stuff then! I was just wondering so I could recommend on how to wear it πŸ™‚ You can mix it in or wear it separately!
And don’t worry about being sensitive; my skin is quite red and some products can make it worse. This has no effect at all πŸ™‚ you could always try it at a counter anyway and wear it for the rest of the day before purchasing to check, as it is pricey! xx

      2. Haha you’re welcome! High end brands can be a nightmare sometimes; they always want to to immediately purchase. But at the end of the day it’s your cash! Make sure it’s perfect before you buy πŸ™‚
Let me know how you get on lovely x
