Hello everyone… And a very happy new year to you all! This is the very first post on El-Esque in 2016! Woop woop!
I hope you’re all ready to take on the new year with full force… I know I definitely am.
And what better way to kick of a new year than purchasing new beauty products?!
I know that it’s just been Christmas, but I was lucky enough to get some money from friends & family, and some of the things I’ll be mentioning were actually gifted to me during the festive season.
I shall begin with some of the Maybelline Creamy Matte Colour Tattoos which I actually purchased just before Christmas & have already posted a first impressions on here.
I mentioned in that post that I was considering investing in Painterly Paintpot from MAC but these looked pretty darn similar at a fraction of the price.
I will definitely be writing a full review ASAP seeing as one of my new year’s resolutions is to be more organised (!!), but I’m not sure how I’m feeling so far.
They have quite a thick, tacky formula so I like to warm them up between my fingertips to make them easier to apply. They do take a bit of blending but the tackiness actually helps eyeshadow to adhere to them successfully.
For those wondering I picked up Crème De Rose (left) & Crème De Nude (right).
My parents were extremely generous over Christmas and gave me mainly money, but I did have some lovely little surprises too! Most of them were non-beauty related & have been packed away, used, worn etc, but I did receive this little Pink Grapefruit Lip Butter from The Body Shop.
If you know me well you would probably have been introduced to my monsterous lip balm stash… And I would say that at least 70% of those lip balms are from The Body Shop! I adore how they make my lips feel and I can’t wait to get using this new one. Also, I love the scent of pink grapefruit, making me even more excited to get slathering this stuff on.
As a little festive treat from me to me I popped into MAC to pick up a new lipstick! In the last few months I picked up Plumful which is a Lustre finish, and I loved the formula so much that I decided to try Syrup which is of the same formula.
I’ve already worn it a couple of times and I have to say that I adore the colour. I have been really enjoying wearing lip products with a mauve-y, purple-y tone as I feel that they’re a nice subtle alternative to a basic boring nude.
I really like this one and the formula of Lustre lipsticks is not only sheer & glossy, it is also incredibly hydrating which has been ideal through the chilly weather.
And finally for this little haul I have some makeup brushes from Zoeva… YAY! Finally! I have had these babies on my wishlist for what seems like forever and since receiving them on Christmas Day I haven’t been let down.
I purchased the (left to right) 102 Silk Finish, 127 Luxe Sheer Cheek, 227 Luxe Soft Definer & 221 Luxe Soft Crease, and they are just fantastic. Firstly, they are incredibly soft and fluffy which makes applying products a real relaxing and enjoyable process. I have been especially obsessed with the Luxe Sheer Cheek which applies any blusher or bronzer, no matter how pigmented and stiff, seamlessly, and also the Luxe Soft Crease which makes blending eyeshadow through the socket even easy for eyeshadow amateurs like me! 🙂
So that’s the end of my beauty haul! I did order a couple of bits in the sales & spent some of my Christmas money separately from this haul, but I think I’ll wait for a wee while and pop up that post later on in the month.
Have you picked anything exciting up recently?
Enjoy your week beautiful!
