January Favourites | 2016

So the time has rolled around once again when I get to share with you all of the beauty bits that I’ve enjoyed through the month… And can I just ask, where on earth has January gone?! I feel like I blinked and it whisked right past me – but I’m being honest when I say that I’m kind of glad. I’m so done with the dark mornings and chilly weather. Bring on summer and the sunshine!

Anywho, I may as well jump right in to my favourites of the month.

First thing’s first we have an oldie but a goodie – the classic Wake Me Up Foundation from Rimmel.Β

MyΒ skin’s been dull as ever in this chilly weather (pardon the rhyme) so I whipped this foundation out of the darkness at the back of my beauty drawer and have fallen in love once more! It’s a lovely formula that’s not too thick nor too runny, and it blends onto the skin beautifully whether I use a sponge or a brush. I’ve just become utterly obsessed with getting some glow back into my complexion; I’ve never had so many good-skin days in one month!

I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re oily as it’s probably a tad to moisturising, but for you fellow dry-skinned gals I’d 100% suggest giving it a try!

Although I’m trying to move into more fresh and brightening blushers because IMO spring just can’t come soon enough, I just have to give an honourable mention to NARS Seduction (review HERE)because recently I’ve used little else.

I would never have expected to like this so much because I have an extremely fair skin tone and, quite honestly, blusher can be a bitch sometimes and be stiff, chalky and blotchy. However, I was very pleasantly surprised by this little compact of joy! You only need to dab your brush in a couple of times for enough product to use on both cheeks (so be careful!) but it’s just the most perfect colour to compliment dark lipsticks in the winter time. It also blends extremely easily, with no puffs of powder going all over your freshly washed white blouse when you tap your brush in, and no doll-like rosy cheeks – SCORE!

The brush I’ve been using to apply that blusher has also been a huge favourite over the past month, and it’s the Zoeva 127 Luxe Sheer Cheek.

I’ve got several different blusher brushes of a variety of shapes and densities, but this one’s definitely the cherry on the cake for me. It fits onto the apples of my cheeks and up onto the cheekbones with ease, and the bristles pick up the perfect amount of product – whether that’s blusher, bronzer or highlighter. As you can tell from the slightly dirty tips (oopsie) I’ve been using this daily without fail!

*The bristles are natural goat hair so aren’t synthetic, for any of you who are vegan*

An eye product that’s been getting a whole lot of love throughout the month is the Creamy Matte Colour Tattoo from Maybelline in CrΓ¨me De Rose, which I posted a first impressions on just here.

At first I was unsure about the formula, but after working into it a little I’ve grown to lover how creamy it is and how easy it is to work with. I’ve had a flipping busy month getting back to the swing of getting up early, and this has been a lifesaver to just throw on quickly, block out discolouration and add a slight dusty rose tint to the lids!

Whenever I have more time I’ve also been using this product as a base for other eyeshadows.

My final favourite is my new go-to lip balm – the Clarins Instant Light Lip Comfort Oil!

I’ve heard so many YouTubers and fellow bloggers going on and on about this darn thing, so despite it being a little out of my budget for a lip balm I decided to give it a whirl… And my bank account will be unhappy about this, but I freaking love it and will 100% be repurchasing as a real luxury treat!

I have the shade 02 Raspberry and although it doesn’t give much colour it just makes my lips feel amazing. It’s not sticky in the slightest and almost adds another layer to the lips, making them look plumper, and it also has the biggest and most spongy applicator I have ever seen! It feels so incredible to apply and really sinks into the lips, leaving them hydrated and with a slight rosy pink. I love it… Minus the price tag! πŸ™‚

What have you loved through January?

    1. Ah that’s so sweet of you my lovely! Thank you!
I use the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ38 to take my photos on the macro setting.
In terms of editing, this will probably be really unhelpful – I have a Lenovo laptop and I just use the editing software that automatically comes on that. It’s pretty basic really; I just crop the photos a bit, maybe use a filter and alter the brightness if I feel like it needs it. If you don’t have this software you could always try PicMonkey which is free and I’m pretty sure you can edit on it!
      Hope this helps! xx
