Being a loyal watcher of many American YouTubers, I had to have heard of the brand NYX. I mean, it was inevitable. I had to sit there, tapping my fingers in frustration whilst people went on about the lip glosses, the cream blushers, the eyeshadows, and accessing it here in the UK was very difficult once upon a time.
But now, have no fear! NYX have finally spread over to Britain and I was elated when I found out, although I can’t quite begin to express the excitement that flooded through me when I spotted a sparkling new counter at my local Boots. There was no way I was leaving the store without taking a look, and I ended up leaving with some purchases (what’s new?) and I thought I’d share them with you.
The first product is one I mentioned in my recent June Favourites, and it’s the Tame & Frame Brow Pomade! I’ve been unhappy with filling my brows in for a fair while now; I’ve been using the same brow powder for at least 6 months and I felt I’d slightly outgrown the finish I was creating with it. I wanted to try something different, and this fit the bill at a rather reasonable £5.50. I really like it, and have been using it with the tip of the Real Techniques Detailer Brush to create fine hair-like strokes which give the illusion of thicker brows.
It’s incredibly highly pigmented, lasts all day and is surprisingly easy to use! I would definitely recommend this one!
I decided to opt for something slightly out of my comfort zone with this next item, and it’s the Vivid Brights Eyeliner in Vivid Sapphire which is 05. I’ve seen a couple of bold eye looks using bright coloured liner so I thought I’d give the trend a try for myself! I much prefer eyeliners in this pot form than in a felt tip simply because I like the flexibility the brush gives me, and this does not disappoint although I do think you need to wipe the brush off before using it as to not apply too much.
The blue colour is bold, saturated and long lasting. You can create a statement eye using just this product, which is brilliant for summer. Again this was £5.50 and so far I’m slightly in love with it!
Finally, some of the famous lip products from NYX! These are probably the products I was most excited about because, as you probably already know, I’m quite partial to a new lip product every now and then. I purchased two of the Soft Matte Lip Creams in the shades San Paulo (left) and Manila (right) and one Butter Gloss in Apple Strudel (middle).
I’ll start off by saying that I love the colour of the Butter Gloss (£5) but the formula is nothing different to other glosses. It’s slightly thicker and tackier so it has a good pigment and lasts that little bit longer, but I sort of expected to be wowed more by such a popular lip gloss. I do like the shade though; Apple Strudel is a gorgeous peach that I’ll be getting lots of wear of throughout the summer!
I LOVE the formula of the Soft Matte Lip Creams (£5.50)… In fact, love might just be an understatement. They are lightweight, pigmented, long lasting and actually not as uncomfortable as you might expect! I like the shade Manila which is a bold pink with coral undertones, but my favourite is definitely San Paulo which is a slightly deeper raspberry pink. I’ve worn this shade several times already and can’t wait to wear it again!
So those are my recent NYX purchases!
Have you tried anything from NYX? I’m definitely in the market to try more!
