It feels as though I haven’t written a favourites post in the longest time, which is strange because they’re actually some of my favourite posts to share with you guys! Today I thought I’d gather up some beauty bits that I’ve been reaching for often throughout August and share just why I love them so very much.
I’m never usually one to reach for cream blushers, but I’ve just been using this Pot Rouge from Bobbi Brown religiously over the past few weeks. I have a feeling that this particular shade (Pretty Powerful Pink) was limited edition, but I also have the shade Pale Pink and it’s practically identical. The formula of this blusher is quite heavily pigmented and tacky to blend, but it leaves a beautiful dewy finish which I love. It’s really natural looking which is flattering for the warmer months.
I’ve also been loving the brand new Mini Miracle Eraser Sponge from Real Techniques (my review will be up on Friday!) for blending in concealer. I know that the mini Beauty Blenders got a pretty negative online response because of them being too small, but once you dampen the RT one it becomes the perfect size for concealing your undereyes or blemishes – it’s that perfect shape for getting in areas that the regular sized sponges just couldn’t reach! It gives a beautiful airbrushed finish and I’ve been reaching for it on the daily.
I’ve been wearing pretty much the same eye look daily throughout August, and it’s been using my original Naked palette. I love the colours in here, and I think the warm paler browns are great for a neutral everyday look! My favourites to use are Buck & Naked, the two matte browns, blended in the crease and then Sidecar, a shimmery taupe-bronze lightly dusted over the centre of the lid. Urban Decay shadows blend beautifully and last really well without creasing, and I’ve become so skilled with these three colours that I can get the look done in minutes!
Lips-wise I’ve got two top picks to share this month. The first is the new Pommie Girl Matte Lipstick from Soap & Glory (see my review & lip swatches here), which is probably more of an autumnal shade (but I’ve worn it lots anyway!). It’s a gorgeous deep raspberry colour and the formula isn’t drying in the slightest but lasts all day. I definitely want to have a look at their nude range!
The other favourite is the NYX Lingerie Liquid Lipstick in Bedtime Flirt – something very new to me, but also something I’ve fallen in love with. This formula is more drying than the Soap & Glory one, but as long as you apply a thin layer and some balm beforehand you should be absolutely fine. It wears away evenly and seems to be a good dupe for the Kylie Lip Kits!
So those are my August favourites! Although I’m sad to see summer go I kind of can’t wait to get all cosy as the weather gets colder! 🙂
