As the autumn rolls around and the weather starts to get chilly, there’s nothing I enjoy more than switching around my everyday makeup products (aside from maybe a hot lemon tea…)! I thought I’d share with you the bits and pieces that I’m sure will be getting plenty of use over the next few months, and hopefully this will inspire you to have a dig around your beauty stash and uncover some forgotten makeup gems!
Firstly, although I doubt I could live without my original Urban Decay Naked Palette (the best of all of the Naked palettes if you ask me!) at any given time of the year, I especially enjoy it through autumn and winter. The shades are warm and bronzy; perfect to pair with a berry lip; and there’s a gorgeous selection of paler, more neutral colours alongside deeper, more intense warms shades that’ll suit just about anything!
Speaking of deeper lips, I’ve blown the gathered dust off my Tom Ford Pussycat lipstick and am determined to get using this beautiful colour! It’s a deep mauve-purple, a colour that I think really suits my undertones and is way more appropriate in the chilly months than during the summer. The matte texture of this product is also beautiful; long lasting but so hydrating!
Speaking of matte lips, I will also be using my Soap & Glory Pommie Girl lipstick tonnes during the colder months, as it’s just the most perfect berry colour and the formula is so similar to that of Tom Ford’s matte lipsticks! You can see swatches in my full review here, and I plan to pair it up with Nars Seduction blusher on the cheeks. As you can see it’s a really deep berry shade, but it’s got a stiffer formula so not too much pigment transfers and it actually results in a gorgeous lightly flushed effect when used on the cheeks.
I also think that highlighter is such an essential in the chillier months (my skin especially just looks dull and dry!) and I know I’ll be getting so much use out of the new L’Oréal Liquid Glow Illuminator, which is a creamy slightly pink shade. If you haven’t caught my dupes post including it here, it’s an amazing dupe for Nars Copacabana!
Does anyone else think that emerald green is quite simply the most festive colour…? Either way, I think a rich green shade is so pretty for use on the eyes nearer Christmas (which is so close now! Eek!) and I really love the formula of this Rimmel Soft Kohl Kajal Eyeliner Pencil in the shade Jungle Green. It’s that deep colour that looks gorgeous just smudged around the lashline, and it’s really creamy and blendable too.
And finally we have MAC’s Black Grape Pressed Pigment. I much prefer the pressed pigments as opposed to the loose ones from MAC; they just have much more of a glittery reflex and last so much better on the lids! Black Grape is a really unique mix of lilac, black and purple, and looks beautiful over any berry, purple or black smoky eye looks.
What will you be using throughout autumn/winter?
