Once again, another year has crept up on me, and I still can’t quite believe that we’ll soon be saying goodbye to 2016!
Today I thought I’d share my top beauty discoveries of the year and talk you through just why I’ve enjoyed using these products so much.
I think 2016 was the year that I finally discovered my ride-or-die foundation, and that’s the L’Oréal Lumi Magique. I honestly can’t express to you just how much I love this product! As someone with very dry skin this gives me a really natural healthy glow and offers great coverage without looking cakey or too obvious.
Working alongside that foundation to keep me looking radiant and healthy have been the Soap & Glory Solar Powder and the Mary Lou-Manizer from The Balm! This combination of bronze and highlight have been my go-to for as long as I can remember. Solar Powder is the perfect warm shade for my pale skin, and Mary-Lou is the most high-shine, finely milled glow you’ll find in my opinion (in fact, I love it so much I’ve just hit pan, which I am not pleased about)!
Moving swiftly onto eyes, I couldn’t think of a specific palette that’s wowed me, but an eyeshadow that stood out is Callisto from NARS. A pricey little bugger it may be, but if you like shimmery things you’ll be onto this like a magpie! I’ve used it daily as an inner corner highlight since I purchased it, and it wakes me up like nothing else.
Although I use my finger to pack that on, my brush of choice this year has been the Zoeva 221! I have used this religiously all year long for all kinds of eyeshadow, and as you can see it’s often rather grubby (sorry about that!).
A more recent love has been the L’Oréal Perfect Slim Liquid Liner. I’d never really been a big liner lover myself, but this truly is foolproof – anyone could master this precise pen! It’s ink black and really longlasting; not to mention easy on your bank account too.
Picking my favourite lip products has been a hefty challenge to say the least. I’m a hoarder of lipstick and I pretty much utilise everything in my stash, but I managed to narrow it down to 3 favourites.
The first is the Lip Lingerie from NYX in Bedtime Flirt – a gorgeous nude shade that lasts for ages on the lips and actually isn’t as drying as you’d think. I’ve also loved San Paulo Soft Matte Lip Cream from NYX which is much creamier and moisturising. The berry tone of this is just lovely; I’ve worn it to death!
My final favourite is another berry tone and it’s Pommie Girl from Soap & Glory (review). Man, this is just gorgeous! Creamy, pigmented, long-lasting, flattering… Everything you’d want from a drugstore lipstick. 10/10 for me!
So there’s another yearly favourites rounded off! I can’t believe that 2016 is already over, but I’m really looking forward to seeing what 2017 might hold. Have a lovely new year!
