Ah, January. To some it’s an exciting time to try new things, but for me (and I feel I speak for the majority…?) it’s not my favourite month, let’s just say. Christmas and New Year are over, we’re living off bread and butter thanks to festive splurges and summery sunshine seems a million days away. Am I right?
Either way I feel like we all need a pick me up in January or just a little motivation to keep us going, so I thought I’d share 5 things that make me happy even in the dullest month of the year!
Oh come on, there had to be some makeup included somewhere! I don’t know about you, but my skin looks incredibly withered throughout January thanks to the using-makeup-wipes-after-parties season that we’ve just gone through. Nothing like a bit of shimmer to liven me up.
2. My Zoeva 221
This brush makes me very, very, very happy, and yes I do appreciate that saying that makes me sound a bit strange. But let me tell you, finding yourself an eyeshadow brush that’ll blend even the most stubborn eyeshadow would make you rather cheery too!
3. My Perfect Nude Lipstick
Rimmel Kate Moss’ 08 lipstick is my perfect, perfect nude, and the fact that whenever I look at it I know it only cost me a fiver or so pleases me greatly! It’s probably my most worn lippie of all time.
4. Fluffy socks
Fluffy socks are my weakness! I can’t explain to you how excited I was when I received these Boux Ave fluffy socks as a Christmas gift – they are the softest things EVER! I can’t wait to wear them (but I don’t want to take off the ribbon… Is that weird?).
5. Shortbread (Marks & Spencer preferably)
I’ve grown rather partial to shortbread recently and this probably makes me cheerier than anything else. They probably contain way too much sugar and butter but they taste so good that I’m gonna continue chomping my way through them. NOM.
So those are my January pick me ups! I’ll be heavily relying on these throughout the month… And if you’re still feeling dreary about the fact it’s January, we’re already (almost) halfway done! Cheers to that!
What do you rely on to get through January? Any recommendations would be much appreciated!
Let’s get through this month together!
